This June the restaurant La Despensa, in Neutral Bay, will begin its new pop up concept; a new delicatessen food shop inside the restaurant managed by Mate in Spain.
Mate in Spain (www.mateinspain.com) imports and distributes high quality Spanish food products, based in Sydney.
Guillermo Rabago, founder of Mate in Spain, joins forces with Antoni Serra, owner/chef of La Despensa to bring to Sydney an immersion of gourmet products from predominantly Spain, as well as France, Portugal and Australia. The family name Rabago has a history of delicious and exquisite food with Guillermo’s grandfather running two gourmet food stores in Madrid.
You´ll find culinary delights such as Bellota Iberian Jamon, Cantabrian anchovies, French caviar, and Australian truffles, white anchovies, aged vinegar Pedro Ximenez (50 years), caviar butter, garum (colaruta di alici), piparras (sweet Spanish chillies), smoked sweet paprika. Peruse these and more whilst enjoying La Despensa´s Catalan wines and tasting different high-quality products.
This will be a gourmet culinary tour where Guillermo Rabago will bring to you different areas of Spain and rincones of Europe/Australia. On the other hand will bring to you different tapas special created using these products.
The transition from the shopping time to the dinner time could be found in La Despensa during the month of June, only Saturday and Sunday. Saturday from 9am to 3pm and Sunday from 9am to 12pm.
